About

A little about me
I was born and raised in Korea, to a beautiful Korean mom and a father who proudly served in the Air Force for 20 something years. I've lived in Asia for most of my life, until I moved to the US for school. I met my husband in the DC area and as corny as it sounds, I truly believe it was love at first sight when we saw each other for the first time.

Eventually, the hubs gave up his law books for combat boots and enlisted in the US Army to become a Parachute Infantryman. As a result, we uprooted our lives and moved to Fayetteville, NC where we purchased our first home, and were blessed with our first amazing child. We're currently expecting our second child and couldn't be happier.

I believe there is no such thing as moderation when it comes to red wine, homemade chocolate chip cookies, cheese, and dark chocolate.

And I love all things swimming, yoga, CrossFit, climbing, running, being outdoors, adorable things like puppies, penguins, and dolphins, fruit, playing the piano, politics, thunderstorms, horror movies, military/war related movies, beautiful beaches, traveling, ethnic foods, trying new things twice, green tea, dancing at concerts, and all of life's simple pleasures in general.

A little about the husband

The hubs is the biggest Redskins and Red Sox fan I know, and loves a good adrenaline rush. His job is to jump out of airplanes and he loves all things sports and ESPN, politics, rock climbing, ethnic foods, history, video games, and being a die hard supporter of his alma mater, the Wahoos. He also loves building forts, knocking over blocks with our son, and being the most incredible father I know.

Due to the nature of my husband's job, I try not to use his first name on the blog and prefer to call him "the hubs" or "the hunk" instead. He's my hunky man I have no qualms about letting him know it!

Why Blog?
I started this blog in 2009 as a way to document life after marriage and to keep our families updated as we moved away. Over time, this blog turned into a workout and recipe log when I worked as a personal trainer and clients were interested in seeing how I ate. Inevitably, I got tired of taking pictures of everything and eventually my blog turned into an outlet where I write about all of the things I'm most passionate about, mainly my growing family, my passion for fitness, and my love for REAL food.

My fitness journey

I grew up swimming competitively, playing soccer, tennis, running cross country, and being a total BAMF at Tae kwon do. But after I moved to DC and got a 9-5 job working behind a desk, working out fell to the way side and I gained A LOT of weight. I was completely oblivious to it though since my sweet husband did a very good job of making me feel beautiful. In fact, I was at my heaviest the day we got married, so that's how I know he loves me for me ;)

Anyway, when the husband joined the Army, I was inspired by how strong and fit everyone was and decided to get back into the fitness game. I started running, strength training, going to CrossFit, doing yoga and then discovered the joys of clean eating. I lost 40 pounds and I stopped suffering from migraines. I loved how I felt and how working out and clean eating has changed my life. I loved it so much that I later became certified as a personal trainer to share the joys of fitness and clean eating.

It's been an amazing lifestyle change and one that I intend to maintain for the rest of my life.
